Wojanów is situated in the middle of the mountains, one can admire impressive views over the surrounding mountain tops. The contemporary form of Wojanów palace (formerly Schildau) is the result of the numerous earlier reconstructions. The first mention of the property dates from 1281, when it was owned by Eberhard von Schildau. The Renaissance manor was built in 1607 as a seat of the Zedlitz family. However, after only a few years, during the Thirty Years’ War, it was burned down by the Swedish army. In 1667 Palace was rebuilt by Christoph von Zedlitz in the Baroque style. In 1831 it was thoroughly refurbished and was given a neo-Gothic form. In 1839 Frederick William III of Prussia gave the residences to his daughter Princess Louise. In those days a beautiful landscaped park was established around the palace. After World War II, the destroyed and plundered palace fell into disrepair. Wojanów Palace regained its former splendor thanks to a thorough renovation in 2005-2006 carried out by a new owner who arranged the residences as the hotel.
